Charity sewing

Numerous ways to participate

Sewing quilts for charity is an important focus for the Crazy Quilters Guild.   Members can participate in many ways.

  • Members make quilts on their own, with their own fabric.
  • Members can pick up precut kits at the monthly meeting.
  • Members can join others for Charity Sew events one Monday a month (times and locations can vary).
  • Members can complete the steps that fit their interest and skills.

Bring all completed quilts, completed tops and quilts to be bound to the monthly meeting.

Recent recipients

Charity quilts are given to local groups including:

  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace - Racine & Kenosha Counties
  • Salvation Army of Waukesha County
  • Mukwonago Food Pantry

Cradle Quilt Project

The Crazy Quilters supply them with 25 sets of quilts, cradle pads, pillows and dolls (baby dolls to fi t 13” cradle).  Each Fall the guild learns if the Wood Workers need the guilds help.

Stash Reduction

Do you have leftover fabric, jelly rolls or other cuts of fabric? You can donate materials to the members of the Charity Committee.

machine embroidery

Members interested in machine embroidery meet monthly (except July and December). Today there are a lot of resources available for machine embroidery.   This group is a great place to learn about new patterns and designers.

The Endowment Committee’s focus is on supporting the community. In addition to presenting scholarship money to students, the Endowment Committee supports local organizations with quilts for their fund raisers.

The Wool Group

Members interested in wool applique and embroidery meet monthly January - October.  This group is a great way to learn the ins and outs of wool applique and embroidery.

    other sewing groups

thursday night sew & friday night sews

Members gather each month to hangout and work on their projects.  These  are open sew opportunities.  It is a great way to get help on a project.  There will always be someone there that can answer your questions.  If you are new to quilting, this is your perfect opportunity to learn the tips and tricks of experts.

    Handwork only group

Sewing and quilting was once something that was done by hand. Today there are lots of machines for different types of sewing and quilting.   This group meets monthly to sit and sew by hand.   And talk of course!!
