2027 Raffle Quilt #1
The Nine Sisters pattern by Cozy Quilt Designs was chosen for the quilt raffle held during the 38th Annual Quilt Show on April 3–4, 2027. The committee selected bright spring colors set against a gray Grunge background, accented with embroidered birds in flight. Birds and floral motifs will also appear in the all-over quilting design, stitched in variegated thread. The quilt measures 94 x 94 inches.
There was enough fabric to create both a queen-size quilt and a throw-size quilt. The queen-size quilt will be drawn as the first prize, and the throw-size quilt will be drawn as the second prize. The first-prize winning ticket will not be eligible for the second-prize drawing.
Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. You do not need to be present at the drawing to win. Tickets will be available at Guild meetings beginning with the August 2026 meeting and continuing through December 2027.

The second drawing for the raffle quilt will be for a throw size quilt (52 x 52 inches).

Quilt Appraisals Available at the Show
What is a Quilt Appraisal?
A quilt appraisal is a written statement of value prepared by a certified appraiser offering an unbiased opinion of value along with documentation to support the appraiser’s conclusions. The reasons for an appraisal to determine value will vary but may include selling the piece, insuring the quilt, donation of the quilt, determining value of an estate, entering the quilt in a contest, determining value for shipping or just for curiosity.
Written Appraisals
Written appraisals for insurance purposes will be offered for antique or vintage pieces that warrant insurance or for newly made pieces, i.e. quilts made in the last 10 to 15 years. The client will receive a completed appraisal in the mail, ready to share with their insurance provider. Written appraisals include a determination of value.

Determining Fair Market Value
Written appraisals for insurance purposes will be offered for antique or vintage pieces that warrant insurance or for newly made pieces, i.e. quilts made in the last 10 to 15 years. The client will receive a completed appraisal in the mail, ready to share with their insurance provider. Written appraisals include a determination of value.
Verbal Assessments
Verbal assessments do not include a determination of value. Verbal appraisals are not available for newly made quilts, i.e. quilts made in the last 15 years. There is no reason to complete a verbal appraisal, as the reason for examining a newly made quilt is almost always to insure it or to set a fair market value....both of which require a written appraisal. If a quilt was made before 1970, qualifying as vintage or antique, and if the appraiser determines that in her opinion, the piece is not worth insuring (or if the owner only wants information and is not interested in insuring the piece), she may decide to proceed with a verbal assessment. The appraiser can conduct a verbal review to provide information about date, care and any other facts that can be determined by examining the quilt. This is most useful if the quilt has an unknown history.. The appraiser can make specific recommendations about repairs on a case by case basis.

What is Quilt Documentation?
Volunteers from the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts in Cedarburg will be at the show both days to document your treasure or treasures to preserve their stories. Whether you made the item yourself, inherited it, received it as a gift or you found it in a trunk or at an estate sale you are able to preserve its history.
Along with any information you can provide about the item and after a detailed examination by our volunteers your quilted item’s picture, description and story will be entered into Quilt Index and will become part of the Wisconsin Quilt History Project.
What is the Wisconsin Quilt History Project?
The Wisconsin Quilt History Project started in 1988 after many states including Wisconsin featured Quilt Discovery Days. In 2003 Quilt Index (www.quiltindex.org) was created as an online repository for over 100,000 (and growing) documented quilted items from all regions. Included in the number are over 4,000 (and growing) from the Wisconsin Quilt History Project.
How do I sign up to have a quilted item documented?
